Well, I got one of these adapters and they should be called HDD Adapter and not Network Adapter as they dont have the network part as you guys may be aware and I've done some tests, maybe some those results should be posted (or moved) to the convenient forum section at the moderator's discretion cause they not deal only the adapter itself but the programs mentioned here as well...
PS2 used: SCPH-39001
HDD used: Seagate Barracuda 1500GB (1397GiB) ST31500341AS Firmware: CC1H
WinHiip (1.7.6)
* Does not show the correct size of the HDD (returns -650.74GB), I was aware of this problem quite some time and the program supposed to handle 48bit Hdds but not so large I guess!
* Only shows ToxicOS and HDLoader 28bits as possible aplications and trying to format on either results in a "Not enough space" and a "There is a allocation error"
ToxicOS (0.41)
Recognizes the hard disk and asks to format:
* Choosing "Extended" (Toxic APA partition): Formats "normally" but then shows a "HDD Size" of 4193653 GB on games tab.
* Choosing "Standard" (48bit HDLoader partition): Gets stuck on the same option screen.
The most interesting is that HDD Information on ToxicOS settings show the right size of 1397GiB.
PS: I cleared the hdd relevant sectors before each of the formats above and I not tried to install any game within ToxicOS because I almost certain that even the Extended format was "succesful" this will lead to installation corruption.
ULaunchElf (4.42a)
* Returns a "Format failed" when you try to format the HDD for the first time with a clean HDD.
* Formating a second time does not return a error.
ULE show these values on either format steps:
HDD SIZE: -666352MB
HDD USED: 256MB
HDD FREE: 2146817024MB
Probably a error in program dealing with 48bit HDD so large like the WinHiip case.
After the format, ULE show these partitions on HddManager or File Browser:
__mbr (show only on HddManager)
__net
__system
__sysconf
__common
Trying to copy anything to __system, __sysconf and __common results in a error.
Going back to OSDSYS and lauching ULE again, I got these results as expected:
* HddManager: Shows __mbr and __net
* File Browser: Show only __net
HDD used: Seagate Barracuda 320Gb (297GiB) ST3320620AS Firmware: 3.AAK
Looks that it works but I found some glitches when using this adapter:
Berserk: Millennium Falcon Hen Seima Senki no Sho (SLPM_656.88): Game works fine on ToxicOS, but, on OPL the FMVs suddenly stop at random points of the video playing and the background of the game title may also glitch. Works fine on my Original IDE Adapter.
OPL also freeze on white screen when you put DMA Mode to MDMA2, a must for fixing background music of Fatal Frame series.
Any test using hdlsvr is meaningless because the adapter itself dont have network part.
Worth of note that the PS2 hdd yellow led activity wont light with this adapter.
Edit: And also I cant test if OPL can deal with a big size HDD, based from the fact that he needs a hdd formated using the tools mentioned above.
