MechaPwn 3.0 Release Candidate 4 (RC4)

Pre-release

⚠️⚠️⚠️WARNING! Model name will not change, but mechapwn will work! Force unlock will break FreeDVDBoot and PS1 games. If you change the region on Deckard (75k+) consoles, FMCB need to be installed cross-region, otherwise FMCB autoboot will stop to work. 70k consoles with mechacon 6.02 will stop to boot FreeDVDBoot! You are warned. ⚠️⚠️⚠️

3.0 RC4
Changes over 3.0 RC3:

  • Added pre-Dragon model limited support (SCPH-1xxxx, SCPH-3xxxxx). Currently only support information page and backup/restore NVRAM functions.
  • Fixed PAL/NTSC video mode change, now it is changing only on Deckard according to the selected region
  • PS1 disk detection speedup up to 7 seconds faster. This is achieved by preserving the mechacon region setting. Note: you will notice speedup only if the game region matches the console's current region. Probably this will also speed up PS2 game media (not tested).
  • Now mechacon region is preserved for non-Deckard consoles. RC3 has the mechacon region hardcoded to Japan, now it will try to preserve the current region or tries to choose the most compatible one if the mechacon region doesn't match bootrom region. Note: non-Deckard users with non-standard region consoles (like Russia, Mexico, Korea, Oceania, and Taiwan) that installed 3.0 RC3: restore your NVRAM backup and install 3.0RC4 over it to keep your original mechacon region.
  • PSX DESR fixed black screens on exit
  • added final images for PSX DESR and PS2 Bravia TV by HowlingWolfHWC
  • Added contributors page where listed all people that helped to improve MechaPwn
  • Added more information in the GitHub readme about the hardware fix used for fixing the burning coil problem on mechacons v5.x (FAT) and v6.0 and v.6.2 (early 70k)
  • Added various missing model IDs

Pre-release

3.0 RC3 fixed network block.

Note: public release 3.0 RC2 was removed as containing a major bug. If you still are using it, please stop. On slims it was blocking network access.

Note: public release 3.0 RC1 was removed as containing a major bug. If you still are using it, please stop. NVRAM restore and Keep current patch options were broken.

Changes over MechaPwn 2.0:

  • Added information screen about possible FMCB problems
  • PS1 NTSC4.43 possible video fix
  • PSX DESR support added
  • CEX option and region selection was removed for FAT and PSX
  • added USB HDD shutdown support
  • Model Name will not be affected
  • ability to uninstall Force Unlock even if you lose your NVRAM backup. Just select in the Patch menu->Restore Factory Default
  • NVRAM backup now is safer: never overwritten, created only once, and unique per console. NVRAM backup will be created even for unsupported consoles (so MechaPwn can be used for NVRAM dumping on pre-Dragon consoles)
  • all kelfs unlocked (no more incompatibilities with DVD player or older FMCB)
  • MechaPwn now is smarter, will provide more info about your console, and will block itself if your console setup is somehow incompatible or untested.
  • You will see console serial, Model ID, Real Mode Name, and console color. If some data is not collected by the MechaPwn team, you can report your console data by providing an NVRAM dump and console sticker photo.
  • Now you are not limited to the USA region and can choose any region for all region disks to work (Deckard-only)
  • Deckard-only: force NTSC mode if the DEX option selected
  • slims-only: safe OSD language change
  • code stability and some minor bugs fixed

⚠️⚠️⚠️WARNING! This build may break FreeDVDBoot! NVM restore option may brick your console! Use latest RC version to avoid these issues. You are :warned:⚠️⚠️⚠️

Adds force unlock
Adds support for the special 5.06 MechaCon version that was only sold in Mexico

What is force unlock?
Force-Unlock is a very much needed feature for homebrew applications, like Neo Geo emulation, PS2 Linux for reading CD and DVD-ROM discs.
What it's meant to do is unlock the disk drive for access.

Important note: Every CD and DVD will be detected as a PS2 disc, meaning it breaks PS1 games and DVD-Video
